I don’t think that’s how you abbreviate it. Anyway, I’m making one. It’s called Elbow Pads. It’s just about less than thirty pages. I make the layout and the whole thing will cost like six dollars. There will also be a virtual copy on Convozine.com/ElbowPads. If anyone wants to contribute short stories, poetry, or photography, do so here or there or anywhere. Now let me write a lot to convince you all it’s legit.
Here’s a rubric.
Short Stories: No more than 500 words. Must include some type of plot that draws readers in. Excessive cursing is unnecessary and I’m not too drawn to erotica but if it’s tasteful, I guess. Woody Allen or Hemingway or anyone entangled in the scifi-romance-whatever Midnight in Paris wrote, “No subject is terrible if the story is true, if the prose is clean and honest, and if it affirms courage and grace under pressure.” Just remember this, aight? Word.
Poetry: No more than ten lines or just not unreasonably long. I’m not a big fan of generic rhyme schemes. I prefer abstract pieces but sonnets and haikus are cool, too. Just don’t talk about the roses being red or some shit. I’m a fan of spoken word similar to Brian Dystra and Talib Kweli. Basically, anything poetry from dark comedy to da struggle. Romance and beatific imagery is in between there somewhere.
Photography: Honestly, I’ll take anything. Everything is art.
So, I’m gonna open this post to questions as well as inform you all that my question box is open. Get at me. I have a vision. I think it’ll be a cool.
Also, unless mad people are buying, I won’t even be making a profit off of this. Enjoy yourselves.
